Position Opening: Mission Coordinator, Presbyterian Rainbow

Presbyterian Rainbow is a coalition of churches and individuals within Albany Presbytery dedicated to the full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons in the life of the Presbyterian church and to the full employment of the gifts such persons bring to the service of Jesus Christ.  In support of this mission, we seek the volunteer services of a Mission Coordinator to:

• Provide a living witness to the inclusive love of Jesus Christ and the benefits of an inclusive church.
   

• Provide outreach to the GLBT community in the region of Albany Presbytery.
   

• Provide outreach to pastors and congregations within Albany Presbytery to encourage exploration of local routes to inclusiveness, according to the situation of each congregation.
   

• Connect Presbyterian Rainbow with the resources available through  regional and national organizations working for greater inclusiveness.
   

• Foster communication and sharing of ideas and resources among the affiliates of Presbyterian Rainbow.
   

• Ensure follow-through on Presbyterian Rainbow projects to translate ideas into action.
   

This position has been newly created in response to the growth of Presbyterian Rainbow.  It is a volunteer, unpaid position, with potential for growth along with the organization. 

The person chosen for this position will possess strong leadership and communication skills and a willingness to maintain good relations among parties in conflict.  In addition, she/he will: be available to work 5-10 hours per week; be able to arrange hours flexibly; be able to provide his/her own transportation (mileage to be reimbursed); be computer literate.  Familiarity with Presbyterian tradition and polity is highly desirable.
